What’s the Project?

We'll watch Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children and you'll choose a scene where you can imagine yourself stepping into the action. Think about how your peculiar power might change the scene—or how you might interact with the film’s characters and settings. Once you’ve chosen your moment, you’ll plan, act, film, and edit your way into the world of the peculiar.

Here’s What You’ll Do:

1. Watch the Film and Choose Your Scene
   In class, we’ll watch Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. While watching, keep an eye out for scenes you’d like to insert yourself into. Think about:

   • Which characters or moments excite you.

   • How you’d fit into the action.

   • What peculiar power you’d bring to the scene.

2. Plan Your Scene
   Once you’ve chosen a moment, you’ll plan how to bring it to life. We’ll guide you through:

   • Sketching out a storyboard of your chosen shot.

   • Deciding on your movements and actions within the scene.

   • Preparing simple props or costumes to enhance your role.

3. Learn Green-Screen Basics
   You’ll learn how green-screen technology works, including how to:

   • Set up the green screen and lights.

   • Act in front of the green screen with confidence.

4. Film Your Scene
   Using a camera on a tripod, you’ll film your part in a single take. Your performance and interaction with the imagined world will be the focus.

5. Edit Your Shot
   In editing, you’ll combine your green-screen footage with the background from the movie. This is where the magic happens—you’ll:

   • Remove the green screen and insert your chosen background.

   • Add sound effects, music, or a small visual effect to enhance your peculiar power.

6. Share Your Work
   At the end of the module, we’ll watch everyone’s completed scenes together. Get ready to see yourself as part of the peculiar world!
